Apple’s iPhone 8 launch is around the corner, But Xiaomi has their own plan. Following the success of the Redmi 4 series of smartphone, Xiaomi has now unveiled the Redmi 5 series smartphone. The newest smartphone called as “ Redmi Note 5A “. It’s the successor of the Redmi 4A.
The latest budget device launched at an event held in Beijing and marks Xiaomi’s continued push to establish its position in the budget market.
The dual-SIM smartphone features a 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD Capacitive Touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels at a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch. Redmi Note 5A doesn’t have a Scratch Resistant display.
RAM & Storage
Redmi Note 5A is powered by a 1.4 GHz Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. It comes with either 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB storage.
The main camera on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A is a 13 MP shooter with Auto Focus, Face Detection, HDR, Geo-tagging, Touch Focus, Digital Zoom, Video Recording. Redmi Note 5A higher end model is targeted towards selfies lovers, as the device comes with a 16-megapixel front-facing shooter and a selfie flash.
But the low-end model gets only a 5-megapixel front shooter without a flash. Though, the main camera in both models remains same.
OS & Battery
Redmi Note 5A comes out of the box with Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9.0 on top. The device has a 3,080mAh battery.
On the connectivity side, the device supports Dual SIM, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Infrared, Radio, Fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
All variants of the Redmi Note 5A feature a dedicated dual nano SIM slots and a microSD support.
Pricing & Availability
The smartphone comes in Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Platinum Silver colors options. The 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version starts at 899 yuan (approx Rs 8641), whereas the model with 4GB RAM with 64GB storage starts at 1199 yuan (Rs 11,525) in China. Xiaomi is yet to launch this device in the Indian market.
