How To Make MS DOS Bootable Pendrive / Flash Drive

The Dos bootable pendrive is used to boot the computer from the pendrive on DOS operating system without the help of hard disk or pre-installed Operating System. You can run the Utility programs which are compatible with the DOS OS with the help of this MS DOS bootable pendrive. You can make it by using the HP Disk Utility. The HP Disk Utility helps in the process of making MS DOS Bootable Pendrive much easier while comparing the manual method.

Steps in Making of Bootable Dos Disk

This Package Consist of two folders

1) Hpflash1 (HP Disk Utility Installer)

2) Win98boot (containing the DOS OS files)

Step 1:

Extract the Files to the any of the place where you needed. As I mentioned above The Extracted folder contain two folder respectively.

Step 2 :

Insert the USB media to the USB port.

Step 3:

Install the Hp disk Utility and Open the Program with Administrator privileges (right Click the Hp disk Utility Icon on the Desktop and select Run as Administrator). If you not open HP disk Utility as Administrator the program shows an error message.

Step 4:

• Select the USB drive you want to format & make it as a DOS Bootable Pendrive.
• Select the volume label for your pendrive. ( as your wish eg: DosBoot)
• Check the Quick Format option
• Check the Create a DOS Startup Disk
• Locate the win98boot folder where you download and extracted
• Click on Start Button

Note: A warning message box appears for the Confirmation of Formatting the USB Drive. Click YES button on that Dialogue Box.

The Process starts. After finishing the Process The dialogue box Appears explaining details of the created DOS USB Disk file system, Click OK on that.

Exit the Hp Disk utility and Remove the pendrive. Process for making MS DOS  Bootable USB device is done. Now you use this pen drive for booting the system in the DOS OS. Its simple and ease to make, If you have any doubts kindly drop it in the comments section.
