Expecting Features in Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Verdict)

Switching Form Upstart to SystemD

Ubuntu used Upstart right from its 2006 release which is an event based init system. The same was used in WebOS and Google Chrome OS. Now Ubuntu planned to make a switch from Upstart to systemD. This switch make the developer hard as they have to adapt the new system script and have to rework it. After that only they have opportunities to afford the new advantages of the systemD. To the end-user this switch will sure make a little impact.

Note : Systemd is a replacement forthe old script based init, Its written in C.

i386 to amd64

Canonical officially announced that the arch-indep build architecture has been changed from i386 to amd64, a switch from C to C.UTF-8.

New Unity Dektop

Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet will feature a new unity desktop which offer a new and better experience for the end users and make release much interesting. But sure it will take time to implement this new interface properly. Canonical planned to implement Mir in Unity 8.

mir ubuntu

Mir is a next generation display server which is a system level component targeted to replace X windows server. Mir will unlock the user experience for device from Linux desktop to mobile device powered by Ubuntu.

The above mentioned are the some of the know things adopted for the upcoming release of Ubuntu 15.04. But as a Ubuntu fan expecting lot more from canonical, hope upcoming 15.04 release will surely satisfy all the user expectations.

Expecting Ubuntu 15.04 alpha 1 will be available for download along with its flavours. Thanks for reading and we will be coming up with more Ubuntu news in coming months.
